"Botanic Garden Birds"

Dr. Ashley Long, assistant professor of wildlife ecology at LSU

The Burden Center is quickly becoming a beloved destination to experience resident and migratory birds in their natural habitats in the heart of Baton Rouge. The recent addition of five birding loops allows visitors opportunities to observe birds in a variety of habitats including grasslands, orchards, wetlands, forests and field crops. Dr. Ashley Long will share information and stories on a few of the 320 species of birds that have been recorded at and in close proximity to Burden, lead a walking tour of part of the Loops and equip you with enthusiasm to begin your own adventures around the Burden birding loops.

Reflections in the Garden is a monthly "lunch and learn" series presented by the Friends of LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens. The lectures are held on the first Monday of the month at noon at the Botanic Gardens. Because of limited seating, registration is required, and tickets are free to Friends Members and $10 for non-members.

Reflections takes place in-person at the Ione Burden Conference Center and online via Microsoft Teams. All members will receive a link to the Reflections live stream even if they register for in-person attendance. Friends members also have access to the Reflections recordings.
