"The Crosby Arboretum & Pinecote Pavilion"

Patricia R. Drackett, Director of Crosby Arboretum at MSU & Assistant Extension Professor of Landscape Architecture

Mississippi State University owns and manages a 64 acre public garden in Picayune, Mississippi named for L.O. Crosby, Jr., a timber pioneer, civic leader and philanthropist. Native azaleas, mountain laurel, native irises, yellow pitcher plants and native orchids are some of the more than 300 species of native plants found among the Arboretum’s 700 acres of natural areas. The Pinecote Pavilion designed by E. Fay Jones, an apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright, can be seen and enjoyed near the visitor’s center.

Join Arboretum Director, Patricia Drackett, as she explains the history and current state of the arboretum.

Reflections in the Garden is a monthly "lunch and learn" series presented by the Friends of LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens. The lectures are held on the first Monday of the month at noon at the Botanic Gardens. Because of limited seating, registration is required, and tickets are free to Friends Members and $10 for non-members.

Reflections takes place in-person at the Ione Burden Conference Center and online via Microsoft Teams. All members will receive a link to the Reflections live stream even if they register for in-person attendance. Friends members also have access to the Reflections recordings.
